There is an old saying, if you drop a frog in boiling water, it will jump out. However if you put it into cold water and heat slowly it will be cooked before it realises the need to jump.

Humans are slowly being cooked with Microwave radiation - but it is not the heating effect you need to worry about. The aim of this page - focus on all sources of microwave radiation that is bombarding humans.

What do microwaves do?

Water molecules are polarised, that means that there is a negative end, Oxygen and a positive end the two Hydrogen atoms. This is why they oscillate when subjected to microwave radiation. Exciting stuff, literally, the water molecules movement is why the water gets hot. But there is a side effect, other molecules can be chopped up. A perfectly benign molecule can be broken up into smaller molecules. Some of these can be highly toxic. The American Journal of Epidemiology has recently published Israeli research that has confirmed an increased tumour risk associated with regular mobile phone use.

• Microwave Ovens - Which leak radiation.
• Mobile Phones - From the phones and the masts.
• Radar - Airports, Aircraft, Ships, Speed traps, Weather monitoring.
• Computer - Network cards and WIFI access points.
• RFID - Tracking systems that track items in shops, maybe even in your home, maybe even you?
• Satellite - Beaming down television, and navigation GPS signals.
• Bluetooth - Earpieces

We need them don't we?

Safety For navigation use in shipping and air travel, the safety benefits are obvious.
Communication For mobile phones, when you break down, or have an emergency yes they are a good thing.
Computer communication In most cases you can use hard wired network cables.
For cooking You can use a conventional oven.
RFID The latest item on the block, tracking everything, including you! Bar codes anyone?

Why worry?

RFID The arguments may go something like; The power levels are low and the ranges short.
For the staff; Imagine stacking shelves, every time an operative is near the shelf they are irradiated. Checkout staff are also going to be irradiated.
For the shopper; Imagine every time you shop, maybe even when you put items in your smart fridge at home, you and your family will be irradiated.
Radar Studies have shown that radar operatives have suffered higher incidences of health issues.
Microwaves Have sterilized people.

Typical Frequencies - Some have higher and lower ranges, however notice how many operate near or around the same value as microwave ovens.

• Microwave Ovens - 2.45 GHz
• Mobile Phones - 900MHz, 1.8GHz and 2.1GHz (3G)
• Radar - 2-4 GHz (Moderate-range surveillance, terminal traffic control, long-range weather) also above and below these frequncies
• Computer - 2.4 - 2.45 GHz (WIFI 802.11b)
• RFID - 135 KHz to 5.875 GHz
• Satellite - 3 - 31 GHz typically
• Bluetooth - 2.4 GHz

Observation and thoughts

It is quite possible that on your desk you may have a mobile phone, bluetooth in the phone and computer, also on your desk. The computer may be using a WIFI link. And you may be munching on a snack hot from the microwave. Individually they may be at a power too low to cause serious harm with infrequent exposure. Imagine, you are talking on your mobile phone, the bluetooth is active and you are using the WIFI link. There maybe even a phone mast nearby!
